- Long Ways From Home (L-399-2)   @ youtube

rec. May 28, 1930 in Grafton, WI; Louise Johnson, voc, p; Son House and/or Willie Brown, sp

Dixon, Godrich & Rye (1997): "Cripple Clarence Lofton claimed to be the pianist on these titles, and that they were his first recordings, while Son House maintains Louise Johnson accompanied herself on piano. The evidence of the recordings themselves tends to support the view that she is the pianist." Later research brought forth that Lofton's claim itself has been pure invention: Actually he never has been asked and therefore never answered a question about accompanying Louise Johnson!
