WHISKEY, WOMEN AND ...
  (#1 1971 - #18/19 1989)
ed. by Daniel Paul "Dan" Kochakian plus George A. Moonoogian, Bill Daniels
WHISKEY, WOMEN AND ... "'Whiskey, Women, And...' magazine was one of a few blues and R&B magazines that started in the 1970's. WWA... ran from 1971 to 1989 and featured first-ever articles and interviews of such blues greats as Van 'Piano' Man Walls, Hot Lips Page, Cecil Gant, Harmonica Frank (his own story in his own words that ran over several issues), Joe Weaver, Doc Pomus, Ernie Fields, The Larks, The Humming Four, Sam Price, Buddy Tate, Bill Cook, Rubberlegs Williams, Leo Parker, Dr. Horse, trumpet man Tom Lindsey (he was on Coleman Hawkins 'Body & Soul' and tells a fascinating story) and bassist Lloyd Trotman (who started with Ellington and became a session man for Atlantic-another great musical history). There were 17 issues with two double issues, so technically, 19 in all. All issues have vintage photos and rare label shots. Discographies and histories of such obscure labels such as BBK, Gem, Derby, Imperial, Gilt-Edge, Lenox, Joe Davis and Supreme are very detailed and informational. Issue 15 is dedicated to Boston jazz/blues/swing artists such as Sabby Lewis, Pearl Reaves, The Jones Brothers, Little Joe Cook and The Sophomores. Feature writers included Victor Pearlin, Marv Goldberg, George A. Moonoogian, Bruce Bastin, Frank Driggs, Bill Daniels, Bjorn Jentoft. Galen Gart, Hank Davis, Ray Funk, Dave Penny, Billy Vera and even Bob Hanley!!"
